It can be done. Our colegues from Germany did it. The answer is simple. If you use the RS6 headlights and the bordnetz with the K version everything will work just fine. You can use your existing wiring , only some unpining will be done at the bordnetz. This weekend I would make the modification myself as my headlights have just arrived today. Prior to that you should go to an AUDI dealer and mount the bordnetz STG, because some CP will be activated.
Few weeks ago, with the help and instructions provided by our colleague acerpacer, I managed to do the installation of RS6 headlights.
I made also the necessary modifications to use the fog lights from the new headlights instead of the old fog lights.
I can't manage to attach pictures ....

helo,,,sau salut

SO I have instaled the headlights on saturday. It's recomended to install the RS6 headlights as it's much more easiear to adapt the electrical wiring. If you have AFS or not you can just order RS6 headlights with or without AFS. You just only need to order the headlight housing. The old afs and bixenon module , D2s bulb can also be used. You also need another lights ecu onboard supply, do some unpining , make a VDCS coding and voila you have it. If there is interest I can provide you the PN numbers required for the modification.
Not last for this modification we've got to thank to our colegues from GERMANY, the motor-talk users. They have provided very important info's and instructions so I think that it's right to give them all the credit. I'm just a messenger, I folled the instalation instructions and make them just a litle bit better. Till then I'll give some pictures with the beast.

If they are without afs please post the part numbers

Hello,

Please tell me where I can order the spare parts described previous in the topic by acerpacer:

"
left side - 4F0 941 029 CM
right side - 4F0 941 030 CM

- a power module with software for onboard electrical sistem (bordnetz steurgerat) with the latest version - 4F0 910 279 K
"

I want to order OEM parts not some "China products" but I don't want to order directy from Audi dealer becose is very expensive.

Other question: the lights are working as a day lights (if you have lights on Auto the led's are working on the day time automatically) or you have to start manually the lights using the fog lights position ?

Thanks

The parts are OEM, of course (headlights, bordnetz etc).

I think you'll have to check the code of each part at the dealer or on ETKA.

If you have "Auto" position on your light switch, the LED DRL will perform just like your previous "normal" DRL, so you can set them "always on" from the MMI, and they will dim when the xenon lights are on etc.

The "fog light" position on the light switch will command the fog lights! (i rewired them to work on the headlights, because RS6 headlights have fog lights inside)

teg, thank you for your fast reply !

Can you tell me exactly from what dealer (or website) you bought the parts and the total cost ?

I ask you about the dealer because we are leaving in the same town and I want to now if is a local delaer to go directy there :)

Thanks and regards

I ordered the parts directly from Germany.

Indeed, the parts are more expensive if you buy them from a Romanian Audi dealer than if you buy them from a German Audi dealer :)

I will send you the details on PM

!

HI, i have an audi a6 2005 with halogen headlamps. i have upgraded the bulbs to xenons using the cheap xenon ballast and bulb kits from china. now all i want to do is use my same bulbs but update the headlight housing to the new 2009 RS6 headlight. i dont want to use the new leds in this headlight and i also dont want 2 use the xenon from this headlight. Like i said, i just want the housing of this new headlamp.

do i need to do any sort of coding or adapters ? or is it a simple change of headlight housing and i can just put in my original xenon bulb and beam.

You should not need to code anything up, as you will not be using the Adaptive headlight function or the Xenon units. But it will be tragic if you didnt upgrade the whole system. RS6 headlights certainly look good with the LED's

Hi Cockney Boy - its been a while since i've posted on here, but do remember your unique MMi LED conversion.

I've been looking into trying to add LED DRL's to mine - it would appear to add the S6 led's is too complicated, the updated new 09 lights are again longwinded - BUT as you've proved ..... adding the new RS6 lights is easier.
Can you tell me what was involved - what costs are likely to be?
My car has xenons but with halogen DRL's - I have Auto lights , coming/leaving home function - but i didnt bother opting for adaptive xenons.

Help much appreciated
thanks
Martin

my problem

Hello buddies,

i have a one problem with my retrofit led headlights A6 4f.

i originally had halogen lights at my A6 2007 (4F). i had bought a bixenon headlights with LED (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...rs/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=320471294798&view=all&tid=530995819011) and this adapter (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=360255500483&view=all&tid=190434506023) cos the wiring was different than on halogens. I plug in the headlights but the led stripe is still off. We try to program it via vag com but i dont know where is the problem, at all time the led is off. Any ideas please? thanks a lot...

for the LED's to work you will need to do some re-pinning on the Control Board (located under the steering wheel) and if you want adaptive headlights then a new AFS1 module (behind the glove box) without these adaptations you will never get the Lo work.
