All,
I seem to recall someone (PetrolDave?) posted the the steps to code the screen change on the RNS-E
There were something like this:
The value in Adaptation Channel 018 controls the Startup Screen:

0 = Standard Start Screen
1 = Audi S3 Start Screen
2 = Audi S4 Start Screen
3 = Audi RS4 Start Screen
4 = Audi TT Start Screen

Change the 018 to "2" and reboot, you should have the S4 screen.
I couldn't make this work and I am thinking that we Yanks, have the wrong software.
I think I am running 0260 and this was for later versions.
Is there a way to do it for the "wrong side of the pond" users? :)

Regards and thanks for any help!

You cannot make the coding change stick do you mean? Did you manage to save a value of 2 in adaption channel 018 of the RNS-E (37)?

It coudl be a problem with VAG-COM (what cable/version are you using?) or your RNS-E coding, it has to be coded for A4 to allow a S4/RS4 screen, eg you cant have the R8 screen on an RNS-E coded for A4.

Correct, the US SW only supports the TT Mk2 and R8 splash screens.

So far nobody has succeeded in changing this, or allowing us to create custom splash screens.

Will continue to research to see if I can do it and then post if I find an answer.
Only two ways we know of:

1) move to EU, ZA or Aus! Then you run the EU SW which supports it.

2) modify the US SW to have the extra screens AND accept the correct values in channel 18. Several people and tried to do this and, as yet, nobody has succeeded.

This has been discussed on all the (many) Audi forums I'm active on and AFAIK nobody has solved it yet.

Slight variation on the original question : is it possible to customize the splash/startup screen with a bitmap image (or whatever it uses)?
No, nobody has (so far) managed to identify where/how the splash screens are stored - which is a prerequisite to being able to use a custom screen.

I wish it could be done since the 2010 RNS-E does not have S4 or RS4 startup screens - it accepts the value in adaptation channel 18 but just displays the default screen.
