Why Video In Motion???

Here's a snippet from the movie Groundhog Day.

Phil (Bill Murray)
It's the same thing your whole life:
"Clean up your room."
"Stand up straight."
"Pick up your feet."
"Take it like a man."
"Be nice to your sister."
"Don't mix beer and wine, ever."
"Don't drive on the railroad tracks."

Then they take a quick turn onto the railroad tracks.

Gus:
"Phil, that's one I happen to agree with."

Phil (Bill Murray):
I don't know, Gus. Sometimes I think you just have to take the big chances.

Why do so many people want to have video in the front seat while they're driving? Not too long ago, someone was charged with second degree murder because he killed someone in a head on collision while watching a movie in his car.

This isn't a crusade with me. I don't intend to bug anyone beyond this message. However, it just seems like a sensable question to ask. Given the volume of messages on this forum about getting video in motion to work, I'm curious why so many people want to.

It is required if you want to install a rear view camera.
There's a VAG setting to allow video in motion < 5mph. I could see that not being quite high enough, though.
I want video-in-motion AND properly updating navigation - which isn't possible at the moment with an RNS-E - because the same speed signal is used for both navigation AND video-in-motion sensing (the RNS-D had 2 speed signals, one for each function).

The only way I can see to achieve both navigation and video-in-motion is by an RNS-E firmware change.

Unless somebody else knows differently ?????????

Hi Dave

Both my TV in motion and Nav work at the same time. I have the Dietz 1280 and 1417 installed with a DVD Player and flip down roof screen for the rear seat passengers.

Cheers

There are guys in Germany who unlock video in motion via VAG-COM. You have to see them, they won't tell you get login code to set this value.

I have no interest in video in motion but once you have access to the TV in while driving, possibilities are unlimited. One option would be a PC based MP3 player with some nice GUI. Together with the right CAN intergration, this would be the ultimate MP3 player.
