an original (unmodified) North America map DVD work in it? I'm wondering if, in a few weeks when the new discs come out, I can just order one from my dealer, install it, and have my system update itself? Thanks in advance for your help.

=>YES, in a EU unit with US firmware ONLY the original US DVD will work.
The modified US DVD will only work in a non-patched EU-unit.

MAYBE. It depends on wether you've already patched your EU unit. The software to do this is NOT on the US DVD. It's a seperate procedure. The unit will NOT update itself. So when you have a EU unit:

1. first patch the EU unit DVD with US firmware (procedure on this forum)
2. insert the original US DVD and the unit wll navigate (and also supports Satellite radio en the ricgth AM frequency for the US).

If you press the CAR button you can see the version number. What does it say for hardware and software?
question about Software

thanks for reply i have the SW 0020 in my unit, so can anyone tell me if its american or EU please

thank you very much
SW 0020 is US software.. an unmodified US DVD should work without issue..

what is the part number of the nav DVD??.. perhaps you got the MMI DVD instead of the RNS-E DVD??..

with SW 0020 (US software), the DVD for the RNS-E from NavTeq should work..
yes i Believe I have the MMI, becsaue when i turn my unit on, it shows the MMI, so is it still ok for US and the DVD i bought from Navteq?

thank you
This is the only US RNS-E DVD today, it doesn't have an Audi part number and doesn't even say MMI or RNS-E but it's the one and only:

The Euro RNS-E DVD looks like this and has an Audi part number startin with 8P0. The A6/A8 MMI DVD looks the same but has an Audi part number starting with 4E0.

Which one do you have and what is the part number on it?
