I'm strongly considering the RNS-E, but my RS6 currently has the factory NAV system. Assuming I find the right cables and everything, what happens to the existing controls in the center console? Would you need to remove them?

I don't think I'd miss the old controls, they're painful to operate.

You don't have to remove them but they should be disconnected and would be without function anyway. The important thing is to disconnect the old navigation unit as it really confuses VAG-COM and other components in your car (the RNS-E and the old BNS answer on the same address on the CAN-BUS).
