It has 4 different wire antennas located on your rear glass. The signals are sent to the diversity antenna box and amplifier and the box picks the best signal and sends it to your headunit. This signal choice takes place dynamically so you're always getting the signal from the best antenna possible. The diversity box is powered through the antenna connection, similar to the satellite radio antenna.

I just pulled my ChorusII tape deck out from the dash on my 02 A4 B6,
and found out I have no diversity antenna (yellow plug as seen around the forum.) Does every B6 have this? Or I must be blind not be able to to see it in the dash somewhere....
Without diversity antenna can I still retrofit a RNS-E in my car? I thought diversity is just for TV.... but will it affect radio reception with the Navi+ unit?

By searching this forum you'll see that without the diversity antenna radio reception is very poor.
Is your B6 perhaps an avant with an aerial antenna instead? Also, please let us know what country you are from. I am pretty sure no '02 B6 came with chorus in the US.

I live in Sydney Australia and my B6 A4 V6 2.4L was not available in the US I think. Non-bose sound as well, with glovebox 6 CD changer. I am just wondering why I have no diversity pre-wiring (ChorusII doesnt even have the terminal for it) but yet Radio (FM) reception is acceptable to me.
I am also ordering my EU RSN-E unit and 2DIN conversion cage for retrofitting navigation + mp3 support. Will it work with my car without diversity plug? Will the stock glovebox changer 8E0 035 111 (with no suffix!) work with the Nav unit? I have read someone said yes and also some said no.... :roll:

I've got a B6 1.8TQ S-Line, and the CD changer works fine. NO DIVERSITY ANTENNA EITHER

When retrofitting my RNS-E I also found that I had no Diversty Antenna. I previously had the Chorus II and Glovebox Changer. Anyway my RNS-E Works fine with my glovebox changer and with no diversity antenna - radio reception is good as well. I live in the UK.
