could not find clear anwser to following Qs:

1)to use voice control i need to have a ultifunction steering wheel OR a craddle correct?

2)can the craddle be wired such that without actually having phone it could allow for voice controls - perhaps simple switch to turn on/off?

3)how hard to retrofit steering wheel and controller into B5 S4?

I have a feeling that you must have a phone in the cradle for voice control to work if you dont have the MFSW.

okay then could i just have a phone in the craddle (not with actual wireless service) to allow access to voice menu AND also another phone (my BT cell phone) that i actually use for calls?

this would be great as could just plug in craddle to kuaftec harness and insert phone when i want to control with voice right?

I just saw an older post about some parts you had tried would they work for me:

No I think the voice control will activate the phone in the cradle.

Those parts are for an A6 I think, I dont remember mentioning them.

i'm sorry it was proxus that posted and you had mentioned something that sparked my intrest.

Basically would it be possible to build a simple "multifunction steering wheel".

Nt the whole wheel I just need the voice control button - could i use just a regular button connected to the steering wheel control module and patch that into CAN. would this provide voice control button? would i have to swap an existing module?

the car will think multifunction wheel which should not affect thigs but reality would be just button and module somewhere and i would keep existing steering wheel? As I really only need to use the voice control button.
