Voice commands & Bose audiopilot

Hi all

New to this forum, but hello to Craig (did my mates A2 install).

Couple of questions for you all, had my vag for weeks now but finally got round to trying a few things, locking....

Have a Sept 05 A4 B6 cab with RNS-E / Bose with bluetooth kit in the armrest... (all factory install)

Not sure how to check which versions I have of each piece of kit but would guess I have the latest (who knows with Audi).

Trying to work out if I should have voice controls for the BT, I was kind of given the impression I would but nothing shows up in the RNS menus... Any ideas which settings I need to check on VAG?

Everything on VAG communicates fine except the telephone which times out with communication errors.

Also

Trying to get rid of Bose Audiopilot, have tried setting

STG56 Channel 8 changing from 255 to 0 which gave me back the DSP menu but didn't work, next day restored itself to 255. So tried STG56 coding 0xx3xxx to switch off BOSE and channel 8 again which stayed coded but didn't switch it off

Any ideas or direction woul be great

Welcome to the forum.

To disable the AudioPilot you will need to change the wiring. In the US there is a TSB for the dealer, something similar may exist in Europe as well. At least it's worth to ask your dealer when mentioning that you would like to get the audioPilot disabled.

To get full voice control and all the features you will need the latest RNS-E Euro software (0330 or newer) and a certain sw version in your phone interface (0160 or newer). If you read #77 with a VAG-COM you can see the part number and sw release. If you post those numbers someone may be able to answer your question.
Forgot to mention, to get access to the phone try the newest 5.10 beta with a HEX-CAN VAG-COM. This version has been confirmed several times to solve the communication errors issue.

From the production date which could be somewhere within Y 2004, I would say that you SHOULD have vocal commands available for the phone.
Almost sure they just need to be activated... as it happened to me on an A2...
The fact your module is BT or not is another matter... it depends on the letter after the 8P0862335 code of the module...
I'm almost sure you'll also find a BT antenna connected to the module, even if it is not BT capable yet... ;-)

About VAG-COM, get the latest version, update the cable and get into address #77.
Keep trying as even with the newer version, you may get a could of comms errors advices before being able to access it...

Good luck.

Thanks guys

OK updated VAG.. sorted.

So have the following details

#56
VAG - 8P0 862 335C
Component - FSE_255x BT H18 0160
Coding - 0011802

#77
VAG - 8H0 035 192 A
Component - RNS-E HIGH EU H70 0360
Coding - 0419717

So I'm guessing by that the RNS has S/W v.0360 and the tel software is V 0160. So does this mean I should have voice commands?

You should not...

You HAVE.

The main difference anyway is not really on the software versions, but on the hardware ones...

ALL phone modules have voice commands: they are activated or not depending on which setup your car have. If you have a MFSW and/or a phone cradle with the activation button, then it is active (because you can activate voice mode), otherwise it is not.

On RNS-E, phone voice commands are not present (they are in the phone module indeed), but if you have H70 AND SW360, then you have voice commands...

In this case, the mic should be connected to the RNS-E and then to the phone (someone else here knows how, not me), so that the RNS-E can receive vocal input.

Cheers, just been playing

and set the

#77 code to 0011822 to switch voice control on, checked #56 channel 136 for 13

and it works kind of...

the controls from the steering wheel work and the system does what i say but all the voice dialogue menus are missing on the RNS-E

Must be a setting somewhere to switch the menus on?

??? It appears to me there are no voice dialogue menus... ???

Maybe you refer to the pictures you saw with the available commands you saw somewhere else within this forum ?

They appear if you say "Help"... but they are just a "memo"

Ciao
Thanks Mickey

Didn't notice that before.

I was looking in the manual and in 'setup' then 'settings' there is a 'Speech Dialogue System' option giving controls to;

Repeat Command
Language
Delete all name tags

Also says clearly in book i should be able to give commands for Radio, CD, nav...

Completely lost, guess will have to settle for basic phone functions

Could you please provide us wuth some pictures of the screens you are actually getting (I mean, something which is voice related that we may have never seen) ?

The screens you were referring to above could be interesting enough... ;-)

Thanks a lot
Here's the page where it shows the screen option

[siteimg:1291679ed8]338[/siteimg:1291679ed8]

This is the Speech menu

[siteimg:1291679ed8]339[/siteimg:1291679ed8]

and here's where the manual starts going on about controlling the RNS-E

[siteimg:1291679ed8]340[/siteimg:1291679ed8]

Sorry about the quality the manual didn't scan well
