when using vagcom i cannot access module 37(navigation)could this have anything to do with it also on the plug&play harness supplied with nav unit there were 4 loose wires (GALA,ILL,K-DIAGNOSTIC,12V+)i did not connect 12v+ or k-diagnostic cos i didn,t where to connect will this cause problems
yes you need connect the K-line to communicate with Vag-Com.. the should be a sticker with the pin-outs of the connector on both the RNS-E and your factory radio.. i believe the K-line on the RNS-E is pin 5 on connector B, but double check that in the schematics section..

The wiring is supposed to be the same comparing the EU and the US unit. The faceplates are different between the model specific units and the 4B0 unit is the only one which supports a separate speed signal. Any other unit (8E0, 8H0, 8P0) supports only speed via CAN.
i hope i dont confuse matters, but i just wanted to mention that when i 1st hooked up my 8E0 (A4) unit in my A4 it was not getting speed info from the CAN.. i checked the VAG-COM coding and it was coded for an A6 (05xxxxx).. i recoded it for an A4 (03xxxxx) and it started getting speed info from the CAN like it was supposed to..

i did not try to hook up the V-signal, so i cannot say if the 8E0 unit will work with a separate V-signal when coded for an A6, but when coded for an A6 it definitely does not get the speed signal over CAN..

hope that helps..
