Can sombody explain why the type B tv tuner doesn't work on the RNS-E?

What is the difference with the two units? I'm presuming that they are both similar "tuner" cards internally and it's something to do with the output they generate..

Has anybody also tried the DV-T tuner's? One on ebay quite cheap...

The B tuner uses Bosch can communications protocol and that is incompatible with the RNS-E which wants infotainment can. Thats is why there is a TMC unit in older cars with RNS-D. It converts Bosch Can bus to infotainment can bus to talk to the cluster.

Thats why stateside cars with RNS-D still have a TMC/can gateway even though TMC is not available. They use the can gateway bit.
