I've tried to search after this, but didn't find a spesific answer.

I have an 2004 A4 With the RNS-E DVD Navi (EU) with tv tuner.
I would like to able to watch tv while i drive (for my passengers :D )
I've red something about can and gala and that the A4 only have can. Am i correct? How will i solve this problem? Cutting the gala wouldn't work would it??

Help please!

(Pardon my english)

yes, you are correct : the A4 receives speed via the CAN-bus, which can not be cut (or switched).. as a side note, the A6 receives speed via GALA wire, which can be switched..

the 1st option is the Dietz 1280.. this device "filters" out the speed signal from the CAN, but allows other signals to pass through such as "ignition turn on" and illunation.. when the 1280 is activated (via additional switch), you can not navigate..

in europe there are some companies offering to recode the RNS-E to allow video-in-motion, which does not disable navigation.. unfortunately there is some secret way to do this -- no one on this forum has figure out how to do it this way..
check these thread..

Tanks a lot for the answer! The Dietz 1280 costs about 250 US$ here in Norway, so tv in motion will placed way down on my priority list.

What does the 1280 cost "over there"?
at the time i got mine, i had to get it from Germany.. i paid ~179 euros
I've tried to get an appointment with some of the supliers of the "software freischaltung" for the RNS-E, but every time I got an answer back: At this moment we are not able to do this for the RNS-E
But do I need another Dietz unit if i want aux/line out then? How do I do if i want do install an external DVD player in the car? Does the 1280 do the job? (didn't see any line out on that)

What does my dvd player in the RNS unit handle? Only org. Audi Navi DVD's or what?

220$ is almost the same price i'll get it for over here...
You're going to have to get the Dietz 1417 to connect an external DVD player. The 1280 simply allows for video in motion. So the answer is you'll need both of them.(someone correct me if I'm wrong) The original audi navi only handles navigation DVD's at the moment. Not sure if that can change in the future. Maybe someone will figure out some sort of hack.

The TV tuner has an audio/video in (maybe even two). All you need is a cable which converts the propriatery plug to cinch.

Something like this: Video In Adapter für TV Tuner

Where does the tv tuner stand in my A4 B6 2004 Lim? I have found something on the left side in the trunk that has an fan that shows. But I that the Tv tuner??
