A lot of PDA type phones do not support the full hands free profile. You may just be unlucky with your choice of phone.

Trouble w Bluetooth on 2006 Audi A4 Cab
just took delivery of 2006 A4 Cab 3.0 with Nav+ and Bluetooth.
I have a blackberry 7100g and the device pairs with the Audi fine, but very limited functionality, including no phone book.
I have updated my phone with the latest software version, but not help.
Any ideas ???

The Blackberrys with BT are very limited in their functionality due to security concerns. That is probably the case here.
