I think you have to pass-through your TMC. If you don't do that, the TMC is still trying to convert Audi-CAN to Bosch CAN which the RNS-E doesn't understand. And TMC is build-in now...

I spent more than an hour trying to get the DIS working, trying all possibles codes but no luck. Then I accidentally turned the RNS-E off for a second and back on while it was navigating and suprise, the DIS showed the navigation instructions. Given I have a 2004 A6 not not a 2002 S8, but you may see the same issue.

I'm still trying to find a better answer but it looks like the RNS-E doesn't work 100% with the monochrome DIS. If I'm correct, Audi always put the color DIS in cars which were ordered with the RNS-E.
