Im pretty familiar with my RNS-E unit except for one thing and there wasnt a definitive answer in the manual that i could find. When you are looking at the map, how do you change the zoom and keep it permanent. I know how to change it in the sub menu, but how do you keep it at that zoom?

It will stay at the set zoom with either "Position 3D", "cur. position" or "destination" map type setting. You set the zoom simply by rotating the control knob in the map view. If your map type is "overview" then it always shows your current position and destination on the map, then zooms in as close as possible while still showing both (so it zooms in as you approach your desination).
