Greetings Audi Enthusiasts!

I am in the process of buying my convertible Audi, and the only known issue it has is, that the sunroof and the trunk are not automatically opening.

The owner tells me that she took it to the dealer and they told her it's a fuse that's burned out. and that it is an easy and inexpensive fix. Has anyone else had this problem with theirs? Is that what happened to your car? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

"sunroof"?? "automatically"?? I've owned a 2014 since new, and I have no idea what you mean. The top and the trunk both are operated electrically/hydraulically, but neither do anything automatically. And did you replace the fuse, or not?

Thank you for replying! I know nothing about mechanics, that's the best way I can explain it. 😄
It sounds like it could be a fuse, that's what the owner is saying that it is the fus, but that the car needs to be brought to the dealer for them to change it. I don't mind bringing it to the dealer to get the fuse changed, my fear is that it could be something else. That's why I am inquiring to see of anyone else has had this issue before.

It does not make much sense that your seller would tell you the fix is easy and cheap, but then not do it for you. That's a bad sign, that they may not be trustworthy. Just about anyone can check fuses if they know what to look for. Have the seller show you the car's owner's manual. In my 2014 manual, the fuses are all described on pages 250-253; it's probably similar for the 2012 book. The power top hydraulics go thru black fuse panel A number 4, which is located behind a pull-off panel in the right sidewall of the trunk. This fuse is a 50 amp fuse, much larger than most car fuses - it might be rare at auto parts stores and send you to the dealer parts counter. But it still will be cheap as car parts go. If the seller won't let you check the fuses, that would be really bad. And remember that just because you replace a fuse, it doesn't mean it won't blow right away again, some electrical thing could still be wrong.

If you haven't seen the top operate at all, what happens is, you hold the console switch continuously. First the back window folds upwards. Then the top cover retracts up and back. The the top folds into the cavity. Then the top cover comes back forward and down. Then all 4 windows raise. This takes many seconds to finish. Are you saying nothing at all happens when you operate the switch?

If the dealership told her that, they should’ve changed it. Be careful buying an Audi as some of their parts (alternators) are made in Ukraine and not available. My A6 has been in the shop 105 days awaiting an alternator.

I think I kind of figured out that I really had to further determine what it was.
