this is the cable i got w/ the Nav system...

but when i look at the posted installations (the A6 and the S4) both these guys have used the following Diversity antenna cable:

(Kufatec store)

so i'm just wondering if i should get the one from Kufatec, or if i can still use the one i got... and if i use the one i got, any suggestion for keeping the Fakra connector safely in place?

the DVD nav is gonna be installed in a B6A4 which has already been previously retroffited w/ a CD nav (w/ screen and TMC)... and once the wiring is "put back to stock", i've got pretty much the same plugs/connectors from factory as the ones in the A6...

You can remove the blue plastic housing from the Fakra connector and it will fit in the left beige plug on the unit. The original diversity was Fakra too but you may have changed that to SMB when you installed your RNS-D. If it is still Fakra it should fit in the right connector. All the Fakra plugs are the same, the housing (and it's color) makes it fit or not.

I would say you can use this adapter for now but long term you should get the right one. If you remove the plastic housing from a Fakra connector, it's not locked anymore and may fall off at any time. The same applies to the ISO end. Your adapter the the original connector will sit there in a 90 degree angle while the Kufatec adapter is pretty tight and could be secured with a cable binder.

you've pretty much confirmed what i was thinking...

i think i could almost jam the blue plastic housing from the Fakra connector into the left beige plug on the unit, and it would be likely it would stay in place...

i test-fitted it, and it seems i could push it further in and it would almost lock itself in...

we didn't change the original Fakra as the CD Nav installation instructions from Naser/Mishari indicated that it should be left alone and not connected to anything... so i still have the yellow Fakra housing, which i understand from the write-ups i'll have to remove...

now i agree with you about getting the proper cable though... i'd feel much better knowing that everything is properly secured back there...

or maybe i could just use some duck tape...!!!

What your looking at is not the diversity antenna, its the normal FM antenna, the diversity antenna goes in the socket next to it. And looks like this....

ooops sorry for not using the proper terminology...

i was kind of refering to both actually, the FM antenna and the diversity antenna... well i think i was...

my main point was about the connectors as opposed to which antennas which one was...

i was worried about having this "single" connector...

vs. the "double" everyone else has been using...

but that won't be an issue for long as i ordered the one above from Kufatec and hoepfully it won't take too long to get here...

but thanks for correcting me!

I have one of those blue radio diversity antenna connectors also. It works but you have to push it in very hard and it leaves little room for the yellow diversity connector. Both fit not very securely. I would highly recommend buying the double connector from Kufatec and do the installation right.
