I thought the screen size is 6.5 inch (165.1 mm)? I'm referencing this from the A3 Brochure and presume its the same size. The 2006 A6 MMI unit is 7 inches (178 mm).

Could very well be. I thought as well that I read 6.5 inch in the past but I just checked on Audi.de and the article says "sieben zoll" which should translate to 7".
