Like the title says.

I got the unit hooked up in the back. Pain in the ass to get to the wiring harness.

The B7s have a nice sliding drawer were you screw the SAT unit and if it hadnt been for not being able to get to the wiring harness I wouldnt have had to remove the trunk carpet trim.

Anyway, I hooked my unit and I have yet to swap the CAN connector on the passenger side.

At this point when I go into the Nav and select Satellite - the same message appears - telling me that the vehicle is pre-wired for Satellite.

Even before I swap the CAN connector - do I have to code the RNS-E to account for the satellite receiver?

I remembered when I coded the RNS-E for Bluetooth there was an option for satellite too. My current value is : 0301617

"Below you have coding values for RNS-E:

STG 56 (Navigation System) -> Coding -> Function 07

0?xxxxx: Model
1 - Audi A2
2 - Audi A3 (8P)
3 - Audi A4 (> 2004)
4 - Audi A4 Cabriolet (> 2004)
5 - Audi A6 (< 2004)
6 - Audi TT (> 2004)

0x?xxxx: Diagnostics
0 - activ
1 - inactiv

0xx?xxx: Sound characteristics
0 - linear
1 - Audi A4 (> 2004)
2 - Audi A6 (< 2004)
3 - Audi A4 Cabriolet (> 2004)
4 - Audi TT (> 2004)
5 - Audi A3 (8P)
9 - Bose Soundsystem

0xxx?xx: Telephone/telematics
1 - no telephone (supply voltage for microphone actively)
2 - Mobile phone preparation (Temic - Speisesp. Microphone inactively)
3 - Mobile phone preparation (Cullmann - Speisesp. Microphone inactively)
4 - Mobile phone preparation (Nokia - Speisesp. Microphone inactively)
5 - Telematics Europe (supply voltage microphone inactively)
6 - Telematics US (supply voltage microphone inactively)
7 - Base plate diagnostic capable with comfort control

0xxxx?x: Options I
1 - default
2 - Digital-Radio
3 - Satelite-Radio
4 - Satelite- and Digital-Radio

0xxxxx?: Options II
1 - default
2 - TV-Tuner
3 - CD-Changer
4 - TV-Tuner and CD-Changer
5 - Multifunction Steering Wheel
6 - TV-Tuner and Multifunction Steering Wheel
7 - CD-Changer and Multifunction Steering Wheel
8 - TV-Tuner, CD-Changer und Multifunction Steering Wheel "

So currently the sixth digit is 1 = default

Do I have to change it to 3 to use the Satellite?

Or all my problems will go away when I swap the CAN connector.
I was trying to avoid doing that - I hate ripping trim apart

Thank you for help

Until you replace the receiver and/or change the connector to extend the CAN bus to the SAT receiver there is no point in coding the RNS-E for SAT, unless of course now is the only time you have access to a VAG-COM.

OK,

So next step - swap the CAN connector and then code the NAV.

Or coding may not even be an issue. I didnt see anyone mentioning it.

Done with the install. I waited more than 10 minutes for the unit to link

I havent done any programming of the RNS-E - I wonder if I should do anything.

I'll call Sirius one more time

Yes, for SAT radio in North America, it should only take a few minutes for the sat's to register and you should see channels under your radio options. I have Sirius and the oem subfin in my car and have swapped out a few different xm and sirius receivers and have found xm to take a bit longer to register....but your mileage may vary.

enjoy!!
