I'm still trying to figure out how the factory OEM sat radio (SDARS) and the OEM cd-changer (CDC) are connected to the head unit (HU) to work at the same with only one line-in and came across this diagram:
[siteimg:dd4d3f3368]115[/siteimg:dd4d3f3368]
It kind of shows that the CDC is connected to the HU directly (CDC control) and through the sat receiver (Audio for both?). The sat receiver also has a direct connection to the infotainment CAN-BUS (SDARS control) which is not shown in this diagram.

The questions I have now are:
- Does someone have a picture of the connector at the OEM sat receiver?
- Does the OEM sat receiver have a label like the Symphony or RNS-E which explains what the different pins are for?
- In 2004 B6 which have the OEM sat receiver, is there a wiring harness from the trunk going back to the glovebox area to actually connect a CDC?
- Does anybody know anybody who got a Symphony II with OEM sat receiver upgraded with the OEM cd-changer and the OEM harness?

The reason why I'm asking is the following: After upgrading the Symphony II to the US RNS-E and the OEM sat receiver to a RNS-E compatible one, there is still one end left unused for the CDC, a phatbox or ice>link. If above statements are correct. The OEM sat receiver would simply control audio throughput from the CDC or its own audio, based on what gets selected on the HU.

The fact that the OEM Audi iPod integration kit is not compatible with either CDC or SDARS would kind of point to a missing wiring harness from the trunk back to the glovebox or HU area (where the ice>link would get installed).

I'm still undecided if I keep my EU RNS-E and simply reinstall the Symphony when I sell the car. Or get the US RNS-E and upgraded OEM XM to leave it in the car, and sell my Symphony II with OEM XM module now. And then there is the ice>link for RNS-E on my desk which asks to get installed soon.

Too many questions ;-)

Just read an AW article which confirms that the sat receiver has a passthrough: http://forums.audiworld.com/s4b6/msgs/245313.phtml. Doesn't help if you have both sat and CD-changer, but if you skip the CD-changer, this will provide the connector for the phatbox or ice>link...
