yes you could do it any of the ways mentioned..

if you use the ME3, keep in mind you will not be able to use either of the aux-inputs for audio only..

also for your passengers to play xbox while you are driving you will need a Dietz 1280 for a B6-A4 or A3 install or you can use the old switch in the GALA wire if you have a A6 or B5-A4 install..

the TV-tuners integrated into DVD players typically arent that great -- it is more of an add feature.. a stand-alone tuner is better..

if TV is what you are after, then you will need something with a diversity antenna hook up and you'll need a powered/amplified diversity antenna..

a friend of mine has a decent tuner and antenna.. i will try to get part numbers from him..

a word of caution: TV reception with any tuner or any antenna in the car is difficult..

good luck..

Ok, these are used cheap units, they normall go for around 400 euros + shipping on ebay, so I'm offering at a good price.

These are £1150 + VAT from a UK Dealer.Then + a cable.

quick reflection....

..are these tuners that you speak of, Analog or digital (DVB-T).

Here in Sweden we are about to shut down the analog TV system.

Do anyone have any ideas of nice DVB-Tuners....

DVB tuners are available for the MMI systems only at present on the A6 and A8.

You could add a DVB tuner to your car, but not sure how well it would work unless you had a good diversity system, the analogue TV sugnal is quite forgiving, whereas digital just goes to blocks and no audio.
