I installed a RNS-E in my car some time ago.

When I check the errors in VAG, I get the following from time to time:

Control MOdule Part Number: 8E0 035 192 C
Component and/or version: RNS-E BASIC EU H50 0110
software coding: 0301113
work shop code: WSC 06335

00858 - Connection; Radio ZF Output to Antenna Amplifier
011 - Open Circuit

Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 01101011
Fault Priority: 5
Fault Frequency: 28
Fault Counter: 9
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2006.10.28
Time: 07:50:25

Freeze Frame:
Mileage: 655350
Count: 2910
Clock: 18:27

I don't seem to have a "dual" diversity aerial. I had a single DIN chorus deck in prior to the RNS-E install.

I have a 2004, A4 (B6) Avant with the aerial in the rear side window. Only one aerial connection was connected to the old stereo.

Anybody know what to do to get rid of this aerial, or any way to install the diverse one?

The Chorus does not have diversity so there is nothing you can do about this except upgrading your whole antenna system which may include changing some windows. I would leave it as is and ignore this error.

thanks mate. Is there any way to "trick" the system, like purchasing another aerial loom that can just be stored in the dash?

i don't think so unless you retrofit the diversity module and the 2 to 4 antennas it is using.

I agree with Dirk here. The diversity connection is not only used for antenna reception, but also sends power to the diversity box over the antenna wire. The only way to trick the system is to actually install the diversity box.

Mine throws the same error Stuart - good to know what causes it.

Given that my radio works fine I never worried too much about it.
