I have an RNS-E unit that will not read the nav disc - although it will play CD's.

Where can I send it to have it repaired?

Thanks for the info.

unfortunately a common issue. You can't find a DVD player replace part or repair service. You can try to clean the dvd player, or try an original DVD (assuming you're using a backup disc now).

Unfortunately, I have to join Jeb... :(
Our RNS-E DVD wont work either... :(
I am not in hold of one of the original DVDs, but just the backup one - working fine in other devices - exept this one...

Isnt there really some possibility to get it repaired?
Its a sad think for it to be a common problem...

Thanks a lot!

I thought that I've read on here that some Alpine car radio stores can repair them? Worth a shot...

Just out of curiosity how warm or hot are your DVD's?

I posted a question under the DVD/ CD section.

Mine is getting VERY warm almot hot after a few hours in the car.

If your laser is recalibrated then you are out of luck. There is no shop in US specializing in fixing those drives. But there is a chance that your laser eye is just dirty. That's why Audi is using plastic covers for new drives.

Open top cover of your unit and get Windex and Qtip

Laser is mounted on moving bracket. Adjust it so you have access to laser eye. Put some windex on Qtip ....not too much tho. It need to be wet but not dripping wet. Clean your laser eye gently, not pushing too hard.

Close everything back and check your disc.
If this doesn't work , you need to test it with OEM disc.
If original map doesn't work then you need new drive.
