Sorry my English is poor, I try to search a topic on RS4 B5, but I didn't find something.


I explain my problem...

I have a B5 RS4 Exclusive (for the color) from 06/2001, full options (with RNS-4.1), 440hp, powered by ABt.

Some pics for curious...




So, I have bought an RNS-E for A6 (4B0 035 192 P)

I will like to know what I need to my upgrade.
1/ kit connector RNS-D to RNS-E : done
2/ Connector for antenna GPS and radio : done

Something else ?
Usually I don't need to have a VAG-tool to change something, because I have already a navigator, right ?

Please let me know something.

Morning,

I received my RNS-E unit part 4B0 035 192 P.

Last night I take 10 minutes to control if the unit work good, with the right PIN code ... I tried quickly: was perfect

Bose sound system work great ...

BUT :
1/ I loose the SIC (= DIS or FIS display) information :?:
-> I need to do something with VAG-COM :?:
(Strange I have the RNS-4 unit before :roll: )

2/ I guess is not shut down completely ... :?:
-> I have some trouble with the CAN-BUS :?:

Nice car and nice pictures. Do a quick test and see if the buttons on the RNS-E light up when you turn on the lights. If they don't then something is wrong with you CAN wires. If you do have access to a VAG-COM, check the faults logged in #56. This will alos tell you if the CAN wires are connected properly.

Ok I'm try after job (is 02h20 PM for me) but I think there is no light on RNS-E when I'lm switch on :roll:

I buy an VAG-COM on eBay ...

I thought I didn't need to modify something with VAG-COM, beacause I haved an RNS-4.1

You may not need a VAG-COM but it's always usefull in cases like this. If the buttons don't light up, swap the CAN wires and see if that makes a difference. It could also be that the RNS-E you got is not coded for an A6 which would also make it not read the CAN messages properly.

Did you use a RNS-D to RNS-E adapter? And did you get CAN from the 26 pin connector? If yes, did you remove the TMC to get the right CAN? See http://www.navplus.us/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4192 for some details.

Yes I saw that ... remove the TMC Box, but I dont know where is it !
I can maybe just cut the power ? but I don't know where I can find that ...

If you simply cut power you will loose the antenna signal. In the B6 it's behind the trim on the left side of the trunk. No idea if that's the same in the B5 though.

One option would be to get CAN directly from the instrument cluster:
Grey Connecter Pin 5 CAN H
Grey Connecter Pin 6 CAN L

Hi,
some bad news for change ...

I need to rebuild all pin of the Kufatec adaptator :x

My CANBUS come from this plug ... :idea:

but is do not exist on the adaptator ... :!:

That why is it my Bose stay ON all time, directly when I plug my RNS-E :evil:

Have you all this problem :?::?:

yes ... I bridge the TMC :wink:




There are a lot of more problem with the adaptator, immediately when I plug the RNS-E the Bose system turn ON, and stay ON all time :roll:

I'm checking all the pin for the adaptator ...
a lot of error are on it :evil:

Some one can confirm that one are for the power ?!

"D15" (KL 30) on RNSE correspond to "Ub+" on RNS-4.1
"D12" (KL 31) on RNSE correspond to "ground" on RNS-4.1
