I am about to install RNS-E on my euro 2006 A3. My questions is will the unit need to be coded for such little things like the size of my wheels ie. 18"? I have read somewhere that you have to do this? Also I do not have access to VAGCOM, so will I run into problems when I install the unit.

Thanks

Hi Terry, based on my own experience, the RNS-E retrofit into the A3 8P is plug and play (assuming you're installing from a Symphony II stereo). The RNS-E will work fine and if you have DIS, the navigation instructions will automatically appear.

However, some eventual coding with VAGCOM is necessary as I understand because the CAN gateway will record a fault in the diagnostics after the Symphony II has gone. This is only a problem if an Audi dealer has to look at your car.

I've retrofitted with no problems, although I've yet to get mine coded as well. Good luck with the install!
