RNS-E buttons lights

I'm installing RNS-E to Seat Leon.

Allmost everything works except buttons lights. Does anybody know is it possible to enable them using vag-com or some other way. CAN is working because the unit starts ok and illumination works.

Kusti,

Changing with vag-com is propebly not possible but if you maybe change the light switch on the left side of the steering wheel to german version maybe you wil be able to make it work. Then you will have to turn on the lights manually every time.

The buttons only light up when the display goes into "night" mode i.e. when the RNS-E gets a "lights on" message over the CAN bus.

Changing the light switch in your car won't change this.

What illuminates if not the buttons? Does this mean that the RNS-E goes into night mode when you turn on the lights but the buttons are not illuminated? Does your unit stay on more than 30 minutes if you don't press any button?

Or actually I ment that dimmer switch is working for the screen. The unit doesn't go in to night mode unless I manually change it.

The unit turns on and off with the key, so it seems that CAN-bus is working.
In this case it looks like the Seat CAN does not suport the light signal (similar to the A6 CAN not having the speed signal). You may need to get one of those CAN adapters which convert the convetional signals for light and ignition into a CAN signal. No idea if this works together with the already connected Seat CAN.

Good luck...

I think this problem is not only a Seat thing, It has to do with the programing of the auto on lights for Scandinavia.

Since he's fitting it into a Seat - I'm not sure I agree with you Popov.
