I think it's very odd that you get Radio/CD information in the display...but not navigation instructions.
Have you set a destination area yet...so see if it comes up? You can also use the reset button on the stalk to toggle between: Trip computer, nav/map mode and off.
You might want to reverse the CAN H/L wires and see if that changes anything.
