You can only pull them out when the unit is not inserted in the dash. With your fingers push on the metal springs on the side of the unit and you can pull the removal keys out without force one at the time.

Ok. I know it's a stupid question, but how do you pull the 4 radio removal keys out of the unit? I didn't know if there was a trick? I don't want to pull too hard for fear of breaking something since the keys (and presumably the head unit) are fragile

The first set of keys came out with no problem. The new set of keys I have to fully push them in. Then pull them out away from the little stub that locks it in there. Basically I have to wiggle them so it unhooks from that tab.
