It seems like a feature, but it's annoying.... when I set the CD playing mode to random, the track skip buttons go to the next track in order, and cancel the randomness. Is this just how it works? Any way to make it stay being random like the Symphony did?

That's just how it works - there's been many discussions here about and it annoys many (most) of us, especially those of us who are used to e.g. the Symphony.
