I currently have the d-navi installed in my A4(B6). I'm interested in upgrading to e-navi. My wiring skills are below-average so I had the dealer install the d-navi. 10 hrs of labor later it works.

I'm interested in upgrading to e-navi. Is it as simple as unplugging the exisitng connectors to the d-navi + plugging into the e-navi? Or, is more re-wiring needed?

I do not have a TMC module and don't really want to add it.

Any help?

Do you know what the dealer did to get the RNS-D installed? If he did use some kind of adapter you should be fine and simply need to get the RNS-E adapter for your existing Symphony plugs. If he did modify the plugs then you would need to get the RNS-D to RNS-E adapter. Since you don't have a TMC the dealer probably didn't mess with the CAN wires. The antenna plugs are different as well but either way there are adapter available.

I think in order to answer your question you would need to pull out the RNS-D and see what's behind and how it's connected. If you can make some pictures we could probably be able to see what has been done by the dealer and recommend next steps.

i actually did the samething 2 weeks ago. Installation was a pain, but took less then 10 hours to install Navi D. basically you have to return everything the way it was before you installed RNS-D. after that its a 10 minute job. the GPS antenna that i had with RNS-D is fine and plugs right in to the GPS connector on the RNS-E, you really don't need any adapters. its very easy install. since you didn't have TMC in your car, then the 2 wires are in place. Hopefully your dealer labeled wires that he patched or disconnected as it would really help.
