JoeyD, also congrats! I am happy that I made the jump too. Although, I still have some work to do. I am going to fabricate the speed wire too. I can't wait another 3 months to get it from Germany. Is this the #3 wire on the blue connector behind the dash? Also, did you get your DVD from Navtec?

Is there a way to check in engineering mode whether or not the diversity antenna is getting reception?
I don't think you can see it in engineering mode, but I just scanned my car with VagCOM, and as I expected, it is throwing a code:

Address 37: Navigation
Controller: 4B0 035 192 P
Component: RNS-E BASIC EU H44 0100
Coding: 0509115
Shop #: WSC 78221
1 Faults Found:
00858 - Connection: Radio ZF Output to Antenna Amplifier
011 - Open Circuit

I believe this is because I don't have the diversity antenna hooked up yet.

johnnya6: well before I got my Kufatec adapter, I spliced off of the speed wire (from pin 3) on the blue connector and connected it to the wire on pin 1 of the 8 pin connector behind the RNSE (basically the same procedure as brilliantly illustrated by Justin (radef)) believing that the Kufatec adapter would have the corresponding speed wire in place. Had I known it wouldn't, I suppose I would have skipped a step and just ran the speed wire directly to the final destination on the RNSE adapter harness. BTW, my Kufatec adapter came with the proper pins on the end of the two CAN lines to insert into the grey connecter so no need to buy these pins separately as I did from VagParts.

As for the altered DVD, I secured one from the fine German fellow I originally bought my RNSE from on eBay.

bjarne: I think I saw that fault code too (along with about 9 others!). I cleared them all yesterday, and will check to see if it's back tonight.
