hi i installed a navigation system on my A6,i have a small problem ,every 1/2 hour it shuts off i gotta turn it back on ,and when i turn the lights on of the car the lights of the navigation dont go on,some people tell me that this has something to do with vagcom,or do you think it's the connection? :( :(

wires are coming out of the adapter of the navigation system, they're going to the adapter of my car.i see a pin only on the CAN high coming out of my car,on the CAN low i see nothing coming out of my car
Did you check the wiring diagram on your Symphony if it really has CAN high/low? Audi has changed the wiring several times and it's possible that you don't have CAN high/low there. Your RNS-E adapter has both CAN wires, does it? Where do those wires end?
where can i get wiring diagram on my Symphony because i see on the CAN high there is a wire but on CAN low there isnt.,can you tell me what color they are supposed to be
The top cover of your old radio should have a diagram like the one shown above...
i dont have CAN high or low ,even in back of my dash the wires are missing, does it have to be a grey connecter?on the grey connector the 5 and 6 are empty can i just put 2 new wires coming from number 5 and 6?

Yes, that is exactly what I did.
i made the wiring from the pin 5 and 6 in back of the dash ,i brought it to my navigation system, the lights still dont work, nothing has changed.

Did you make sure to connect CAN-H to pin 5 and CAN-L to pin 6 of the grey connector ? If they are interchanged, it will not work.
These wires come directly from the quadlock connector on the RNS-E, right ?
on the grey adaptor there was no wires going in at all ,i had to add 2 wires ,and brought it to the navigation.

That's right, but did you double-check that pin 5 goes to CAN-H on the RNS-E ?
and pin 6 to CAN-L ?
you were absolutly right, thank you very much ,one problem is done ,but now i can't fix the time ,and thank you again for all your time.
If your instrument cluster is to old it will not transmit the time to the RNS-E. Getting a new cluster is one option but this may introduce new issues (immobilizer related). Since your RNS-E can't get the time from the instrument cluster, it should take the GPS time (you can verify this under Setup) which should be close enough.
on the setup, when i go to time time setup,it only allows me to choose between 12hours or 24 hours.
Somewhere it shows where it gets the time from. In your case it should show GPS because it can't get the time from the insturment cluser (if the case). Can't remember where exactly but it's somewhere...

On the same screen, just above the 12/24 selection, it should say "Time source". If it says Instr. Cluster (like in mine) you are out of luck. This is a known problem that nobody has found a solution for (yet). It seems to be correct in the morning first thing, but then it goes crazy after a while. I have seen it go OK for about 10 minutes, and then jump back 6 minutes. Since it only affects the computed ETA, I have learned to live with it.
i will check that out ,but i think i dont have acces to setting the time.

p.s. now that everything is fine ,do i still have to program vagcom?
if so,i got the program

There is no known way to set the clock on the RNS-E, it is either set from the cluster clock or the GPS. You can not change where it takes it from. If the CAN is connected, it takes it from the cluster. If CAN is not connected, it takes it from satelite.

It is hard to say if you need to VAG-COM, it depends if all the functions you want are working. Is the cluster display working for nav directions ? I would still run through all the VAG-COM settings just to be sure everything is set correctly.
hi,i tryed to program with the vagcom,it reads everything exept for my navigation system,it says (address error).
The RNS-E usually talks via k-line with VAG-COM. Did you check if the k wire is properly connected to your car? Can you access any other controller (37 or 56 are both the RNS-E)?

i had what seems to be the same situation where i could check all modules but the radio and the navigation... the problem was solved by upgrading to a more recent version of the VAG-COM software... it seems the later ones have difficulty handling the amont of data sent by these modules...

this is the message i was getting:
