Possible tip for running the Phone Mic wire.

When I finally got my Mic wired in the correct spot on the car, I noticed there was the proper receptical plug already there.

This means some cars may have the mic wires run already. I am not sure where the wires terminate, but if it is anywhere near the head unit, you might be able to save a step.

It terminates somewhere under the center console for an armrest telephone install, I've been trying to find this on the A4 to make life easier.

But so far its easier to run the cable.

IIRC, in the A4/B6 the microphone plug (8D0 972 643?) is part of the roof wiring harness which ends in two 17 pin plugs (one black, one orange). The microphone pin 1/2 is connected to the orange plug 17f pin 12(black wire)/11(green wire) which then goes to the telematics module (T46/33 and T46/12). If you don't have telematics, the wires my simply end in the A pillar.
Interesting... How hard is it to remove the cover of the A Pillar?

I'd rather use the provided factory wiring rather than my cut/spice extension job I had to do. (It is working fine, but still) :)
May not really be covered. I think most of those 17pin plugs are behind the fuse box or where all the relais are. haven't checked this out though.
If you come across it, let me know. I couldn't find it. :)
Mic Wire

Sorry, this may be the wrong place to ask this question. But on a B7 with Sunroof, it the wire already inplace for the Mic or do I need to run a new wire. If I need to run a new wire how hard is it??

thanks
On my 2004 S4 it took me less than 30 minutes to remove the glovebox, visor, grab handle & A-pillar trim; install the cable; test the BT kit; and refit everything.
Can i pull the A piller cover off if I have airbags there? The guy that does my stereo work said the cover is pressue set(personally i think he just didnt wanna hid teh wire of my alarm antenna there..
I've got airbags behind the A-pillar, the A-pillar trim just slides off - no special fixing or "pressure setting" at all.

Your guy just didn't want to do the job.
Agreed. There's already some other wiring behind the A-pillar. It's easy enough to put your new wiring into the cable ties that hold the existing wiring in place. That way you know it's out of the way if your head airbags have to deploy.

For the C5 A6, there is already a tech article in Audiworld:

I've removed my a-pillar trim a few times...and it is a bit of a pain. Your really only want to do it once. So if you do, just plan on running any additional wires that you may want for future projects (hardwire radar dector etc).

Also, the benefit of removing the a-pillar trim is to ensure that any wires that you run, do not interfere with the deployment/operation of the side curtain airbag.
