Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum, having been pointed this direction from audiworld.com. I'm really really hoping someone can help me out!!

Firstly, sorry if any of this has been asked/answered before but I've searched everywhere and can't find answers & Audi UK are no help what-so-ever...

I've got a 2006 A3, with Concert II & Bose (No CD changer).
I've just bought an Audi Phatbox and also bought CD Changer wiring loom (4B0-051-735B) as per PB instructions.

PROBLEM: The wiring loom i've been given has different coloured wires to the instructions supplied with both PB and loom!

Installation Instructions state:

PIN 13 - GREEN - CD DATA IN
PIN 14 - BLACK - CD DATA OUT
PIN 15 - ORANGE - CD CLOCK
PIN 16 - VIOLET - BATTERY +
PIN 17 - YELLOW - SWITCHED POSITION
PIN 18 - BLUE - LINE OUT GROUND
PIN 19 - RED - LINE OUT LEFT
PIN 20 - WHITE LINE OUT RIGHT

PIN 10 - BROWN - CD GROUND

The 4B0-051-735B loom that I've got has got:

BROWN/BLACK tracer :?:
BLACK
ORANGE
PINK :?:
YELLOW
BLUE
RED
WHITE
BROWN

Can anyone help me out with the pin-outs for these alternative colours?

Also, having been searching around the net for a while a couple of other questions have cropped up...

1. Is it essential to ground the actual PB unit? I was gonna use velcro to secure the PB but i'm starting to think i'll have to use the fitting kit to ground the unit to the body work.

2. Will I need to get my Head Unit reprogrammed for use with CD-Changer?

Again, many thanks in advance to anyone who can offer advice...

This may help you out a bit...

In the 13-pin CDC plug...

1 - R CH
2 - S GND
3 - L CH
4 - S GND
5 - CD GND
6 - N.C.
7 - ACC Power
8 - N.C.
9 - DATA CLK
10 - Kl.30 (Battery power)
11 - DATA IN
12 - N.C.
13 - DATA OUT

Simply use a multimeter to check continuity of each pin in the harness to identify which pin it should attach to.

-Yes I suggest you ground the body of the phatbox just to be sure of a good connection.

-Yes, you will likely need to VAG your headunit to tell it to communicate with the "CD Changer".

Re: Phatbox Cable wiring colours

Thanks very much!
I'll get the ol' multi-meter out and have a look.

If I get it sorted I'll post the solution for anyone else who comes up against these alternative colours...
