done... :D

and whoever came up with the idea on this site is a genius in my book... i wish such website had been available at the time i did my CD Nav+ purchase/installation...

the Yahoo user group is good, but it's hard to find stuff in there... maybe it's just b/c i never got to get use to it...
Given the yahoo group was hard to search but I have never had support like I did from there. I had people setting up net meetings and contacting people they knew off list to help me out a few times.

It's a different atmosphere for sure.

I found people really wanted to help there. I've been tainted a bit by some on this list. It's always my stuff works now so go away.

I feel cheap and used..
We do that here too, if you did your homework and searched the forum first. I have met several people on the Yahoo group first and then saw them back here. And we talk offline if necessary.

I agree that this forum is different but I don't think one or the other is better or worse. This group here is clearly focused on getting the RNS-E working in the US, including the EU unit and modifying the maps and US specific issues like sat radio. Yahoo is a little more European and a definitely more RNS-D oriented. Not a bad thing and if you are really looking for an answer you will find it here or there - or at least someone who points you into the right direction.

I think there are many who are watching us to see what's possible and determine when the best moment is to do the update. Most people who are here now began their RNS-E upgrade project before having all the details and certainty that it will work. And there are still many open questions. Eventually there will be a site like http://www.nav-plus.com for the RNS-E but until now, most of us are still trying to get everything working.

Just my 2 cents...

The difference between your post and mine is I speak from my experience you speak by speculation for the entire community which obviously isn’t true or my post would not have been made.

I certainly don't think you have the right or have the information to make a comment like that. Perhaps you should do some homework. You don't know me or what I have done for others or how I've been screwed by members on this list for trying to help out. I don't need to do homework since I speak from personal experience.

You certainly are not the only one that has gone out of there way to help people here as I have as well. I have put out not only my own time but money to get and do things for people on this list, and then left out to dry.

I would normally be very cautious but I have never had a problem in the Audi community until this list.

I’m not interested in pursuing this with someone who would openly take a shot a person for posting his experience between the two lists.

I feel some unnecessary tension here

I don't know David where your frustration is coming from but I woudn't judge AudiA4B6US so easly. I know him personally and believe me when he is making comment, it's usually coming directly from his experience and hours spent on testing those units.

Those are not "speculations".....I met with him on many occasions to find some answers and post our results on the board. Additionally we spent serious amount of money and time for testing many accessories and fixes for RNS-E and posted many valuable info and pictures on this board. Since AudiA4B6US is fluent in German he offer to help me contact Dietz to get DVD/TV adapter unit for testing, not to mension his dialog with German harness manufacturers etc. etc.

And by the way since you said:
I found people really wanted to help there. I've been tainted a bit by some on this list. It's always my stuff works now so go away.
...no offence but do you understand what is the difference between forum and mainimg list? You will never have the same open way of communication because forum is the place when people share info for others to benefit, not provide technical support or chat like on the groups. This is the place where you can go to certain category and look up for the answer but don't expect any personal help. If someone is willing to provide it , that's great ;)

Another thing is kind of shady here. Can you explain that further?

What kind of problems with this list you have / had?

Ok, something went pretty wrong here. My appologies if you understood "if you did your homework" referring to you. What I ment to say was that someone is being helped here if he did his homework and used the search and read some of the messages before posting the same question which got already answered again and again.

The enthusiasts from the Yahoo group were who helped me getting started, together with similar interested people on http://navi-forum.net, http://www.a4-freunde.com/ and http://www.audi4ever.at. Without those people, I would still be looking for answers.

I don't know which bad expiriences you made with people on this forum. All I can say is that several here helped me answering questions I had and I have helped some others to get started. And if I can will continue to contribute questions and answers and more.

Again, my appologies if I have worded my previous message wrong. If I would not concur with someone, I would discuss this in a private email but not in a public forum.

No problem it's late and been a long day. I did how ever manage to get the Audi TV tuner finally installed with the original NAV and will be helping out there where possible.

David
Just want to say AudiA4B6US has been the most helpful and patient person I've seen on this board. Can't believe I would see any negativity directed towards him (it has to be misinterpretation). Keep up the good work.
