Sounds like an intermittent canbus or power cable to the dietz module.
Check your connections again.

Note: TV is not installed problem - RNS-E with Dietz 1217
I just installed my Dietz 1217 and ME3. Everything seemed to be working fine until I went on a long drive yesterday. With out any ryme or reason the video cuts to a screen saying "Note: TV is not insalled" or something to that extent. The audio keeps going but not the video. It will flash it for a few seconds, then go back to the video, then a few seconds later back the the warning, ... it does this 3 to 4 times then will quit for 6-10 mins, then repeat... its quite annoying. Any suggestions?

a few people have reported this issue (including me).. AFAIK, no one ever found a definite solution.. but you might try the search..
i triple checked my connections, i didnt find any problems.. but i has been working flawlessly for several months now..
