Nokia 6111

Hi,
I've just upgraded from a Nokia 6230 to a Nokia 6111 and am having a problem getting the phonebook to display on the RNS-E. The phonebook worked perfectly with the 6230, but not with the 6111. I get the "Missed Calls", "Received Calls" and "Dialed Numbers" lists in the RNS-E, with names, but no "Phonebook". Also, the name of the person calling is not displayed on RNS-E, only the number is displayed. Is there a problem with the RNS-E or with the phone? In the Sticky thread relating to supported phones, the 6111 is listed as being totally handsfree. What can the problem be?

I've just checked, it was bah35uk that added the 6111 to the list, could you please confirm that the phonebook function worked on yours. If it did, I must have a faulty 6111.

Everything works fine......

Where is your phonebook stored...? sim or phone, though it shouldnt really matter..

The one i used was a sim free unlocked version although i cant see that being the problem either.

Have u paired it then, set tyhe active profile for car..?
I noticed when I first paired my Nokia 6230 that it took some time (many minutes) for the phonebook to be transferred - the calls lists were very much quicker.

Maybe worth going for a 30 minute drive and checking again?
I created a few names and numbers on the sim card memory, and they are displayed on the RNS-E(took about 5 minutes to be transfered). None of the phone memory numbers are being transfered to the RNS-E. I have a sim free version of the 6111, and I'm guessing that it sets itself to the car profile automatically when it pairs by bt.
Sounds more like a faulty phone, it's not sending the phonebook across bt, but it does send the sim phonebook across bt.

What is the "Memory In Use" setting on your phone - Phone, SIM or Both?

Only the selected memory is supposed to be synchronised over Bluetooth - I say supposed because my 6230 synchronises both memories even though I have selected Phone memory only.
Dave,
I tried several scenarios.
1) Names ONLY in phone, "Memory In Use" set to Phone only(No RNS display).
2) Names ONLY in Phone, "Memory In Use" set to Phone and Sim(No RNS display).
3) Names Only On Sim , "Memory In Use" set to Sim only(Displayed on RNS)
4) Names in both Phone and Sim, "Memory In Use" set to Phone only(Only Sim Numbers displayed on RNS)

No matter what "Memory In Use" setting I have, the sim numbers are the only ones displayed on RNS.

I've just been back to Phones4U and swapped for another 6111, and it does the same thing, only the sim phonebook is transmitted to the RNS. So, it is either a codeing issue with my bt module, or a firmware issue with the 6111, and both phones that I've had have got the same firmware.

I don't know of anything in the Bluetooth module coding that could have this effect, so more likely is the firmware version of the 6111.
Could you tell me what software version 6111 you have please - *#0000#.

I've got a 6230, so it's probably not very helpful.

Nokia 6230
V 04.28
24-06-04
RH-12
GSM P1.1
(c) NMP.
This is an answer that I have got to posting the question on the Nokia forum:

"it wont be a firmware issue. it sounds like your car kit uses a bluetooth profile to access info on the phones memory.

both the 6230 and 6111 have the sim access profile - this is how you can get the info from the sim card, but the 6111 does not have the serial port profile, generic access profile or OBEX profile. the 6230 does."

If this is true, how come I've heard that at least 2 people on here have got it working. Are you sure that the RNS-E is reading the 6111 Phones memory, or is it actually reading the sim card memory?
