Need some help! Nav is not sending info to DIS

I vag'd the Instrument Channel 62 to "5"

I found it odd it was set to "17" by default? Do the values even add up to 17 (I thought 15 was the most)?

Anyway, the MP3 and Radio sends the info correctly to the cluster. I'm just not getting any NAV info sent over... it just shows the Radio Tag/Temperature/MPG?

Is it a setting I need to set in the NAV unit itself? Or did I code something wrong?

Some cars start with 16 instead of zero, depends what's already installed in your car. So, if you were at 17 (16+1=Radio), try 21 (16+1+4=Radio+Navi) and you should be fine. Note that you must be inactive route guidance and/or turn the RNS-E briefly off/on to get the DIS show the navi info...

Yeah I tried 21 also.. no luck. But thanks for the tip!

And what do you mean be INACTIVE in route guidance? I'm still tryign to figure out how to use the unit.. but I turned it out, set a route, and click Start Route Guidance.
How do I not be in Route Guidance but still have my route set out?
Ooops, I meant to say ACTIVE roude guidance.

I don't see anything until I start route guidance, or turn the compass on which then shows up instead of navi instructions. If ignition is on and I then start the route guidance, it usually shows up right away. If I start route guidance and then turn the ignition on, I have to turn the RNS-E off and back on.
Well I borrowed my coworkers VAGCOm to set it back to 21... (left it on '5" from like a few hours ago). Lo and behold... the cluster is getting info now! I guess it just had to shut off for a bit and then start working.

Thanks guys for everything... this thing is great!!
Upgrade from RNS-d to RNS-e in an RS6 2005

Hi I have spent the last few weeks researching various forums, before deciding to go ahead and purchase an RNS-e head unit for my RS6 Dec 2005, I hopefully have purchased, although through eBay UK, sellers who appear to be reputable and know what they are talking about. I have made it clear to the harness supplier exactly what I needed which included Fakra to diversity conversion. The head unit should arrive tomorrow. The part I am concerned about is VAG COM. I just can’t seam to find a definitive statement as to whether or not I am going to need to make changes or not. The head unit I have purchased has come from Ultimate Velocity, and they specifically asked me which car and the year it was going into. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated as I guess at worst it will only be DIS they may not work correctly following the install. The icing on the cake would be for someone who has done a similar install to let me know what the code for VAG COM should be and I could ask my local dealer to help me if required.

All the VAG codes are in the knowledge base here. You will need to VAG your cluster if you want nav instructions to show up there. You will also need to recode the RNS-E to your specific setup unless your seller just happened to code it properly for you. Of course, if you ever change your setup, you will need VAG to change the settings again.

Thank you for your quick response. I will endeavour to start the install this evening and see what happens. I thought it would be relatively simple to work out what codes I need to input but this is actually the bit which is confusing me. More research needed I think.
