I realize this is a forum for info mainly on the Audi navigation systems but I have a question for which someone here may have some knowledge.
On the VW Touareg, the navigation system, MFD2, uses NAVTEQ CDs which use Detailed City coverage. Many people including myself find that large areas of coverage are missing from these maps. Much of Vermont and New Hampshire, and many other places outside of major cities.
I have been in contact with NAVTEQ about this and they tell me that until Bosch/Blaupunkt allows them to compile CDs with Full Coverage data or they convert the areas in question to Detailed City coverage, I won't see these areas on my navigation.
So my question is; does anyone know how to compile CDs or add data to CDs? ie. can I buy a CD that has the Full Coverage data and compile it into a CD that can be read by my MFD2 system?
My second question relates to the nav system itself and whether there is any way to recode it so more detail and POIs show up on the screen. At this time, no resturants show on the screen even when you turn on resturant POIs. But the resturant data is on the map. So my assumption is that the software on the CD tells the nav system how much detail should be displayed and there must be some way to crack this software and modify it.
