In the A6 C5 and A4 B5 you will need to find the speed signal behind the instrument cluster, regardless whether or not it't a Euro or US RNS-E. Only the A3 8P and A4 B6/B7 units get all signals over CAN.

I am in the UK. I have a 2004 A6 saloon and I have purchased on Ebay the RNS-E with plug and paly connections. Can anyone assist to confirm if the Gala connection will be taken care of with the plug and play or if it is necessary to make a connection to get the speed signal which seems to be the case with North American units.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks. Interestingly, my supplier says that he is sending a "new cable" which he says avoids the need to have a separate wire for the GALA. I will let you know if this proves to be correct when I install the unit.
