I just recently found that Microsoft came to play with their own Car Multimedia solution and found some interesting news about it.

Windows Automotive is an automotive-grade software platform that enables car makers to deliver cutting-edge in-vehicle solutions that will improve the lives of drivers and passengers. Over 25 preinstalled and aftermarket devices from 13 world-class automakers and suppliers including Acura, BMW, Citroën, Clarion Co. The BMW i-Drive is actually a Windows CE based system. Maybe that's the reason why it's so slow. BTW, our RNS-E is running a POSIX based OS.
Are you talking about QNX Neutrino technology?

I belive thats what they call it. Audi choose it because communication protocols (MOST, IDB 1394, etc.). That's why it's "realtime"
Yeah, the QNX.

This has been around for a while now.

Those videos are funny, in more ways than one. They played the same videos at last years CES (2005) show and now they updated them to show the GUI interface that they recently came out with. :D

Given how many times all forms of Windows have "crashed" on all the PCs I've ever used, I don't want any Microsoft products anywhere near my car!
I've clicked on the above links from my Windows 2k laptop, using microsoft internet explorer, and it tries to play the video with windows media player, and I get the following error message: "The server redirected the player to an invalid location." So, I'd feel better having microsoft as far away from my car as possible thanks!
