There is no A6 unit with SDS because the A6 C5 is no longer produced and therefore the A6 RNS-E no longer developed. Besides that would you need to retrofit te CAN ebaled steering wheel as well, lots of work. Some B5 guys are planning to retrofit at least the voice button, that's your best bet for at least getting voice control for the phone - which doesn't need HW70, just the Euro 0360 software. In the US voice control is currently more limited but has the same requirements: a CAN enabled multifunction steering wheel.

I have read in this forum for some days now and I am impressed by the quantity of know how.
I want to upgrade my old navi plus to an RNS-E.
I want the SDS feature.

I think it is Harman Becker, but I am not sure. If that is right, will it be possible to purchase directly from them?

The OEM for the RNS-E is Aisin, OEMs are usually not allowed to sell/support OEM hardware directly to end users. The latest HW for an A6 is the 54 or so. HW 70 is only available for the A3/A4. The faceplates wont match and while you may be able to code such a unit for an A6, nobody knows yet if this really works.
