Just installed RNS-E US on 2004 S4! Vag question

Hi I just installed the RNS-E nav in my S4 and started doing the Vag-com programming. I've done all the things suggested on this website but I still get this error. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it? Thanks Paul

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.0-S

Control Module Part Number: 8E0 035 192 E
Component and/or Version: RNS-E US H52 0020
Software Coding: 0309131
Work Shop Code: WSC 00000
1 Faults Found:
02024 - Perform Adaptation
000 - -

What should my coding be in STG56 (Navigation System) ->Coding>Function07? I have 0309131 now. My car is an S4, Bose, XM radio, no phone, no cd changer, no multifunction steering wheel.

Also How do you know how many GPS antennas you have connected?

Did you do the adaptation to include navigation?

STG 17 (Instrument cluster) -> Adaptation -> Function 10 -> Channel 62
+01 - Radio
+02 - Telefon
+04 - Navigation
+08 - Telematics
There is only one GPS antenna, do you mean how many satelites it sees?

If so, you can see it on the NAV-INFO screen (lower left button in nav mode). Or you can get more information in the engineering mode.
How about the adaption of the RNS-E itself, did you go through that?

STG 56 -> Adaptation -> Function 10
I set STG 17 (Instrument cluster) -> Adaptation -> Function 10 -> Channel 62 to 5 for +1 radio and +4 navigation = 5?

As for STG 56 -> Adaptation -> Function 10, I set all the channels listed except channel 136. Vag-Com version 4xx? only allows 2 digits.

The navigation works fine from all I can tell. It's just when I Vag it it gives me the error.

Any other thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

BTW I did figure out how many gps/satellites by doing NAV-info screen. Thanks.

Several of us have found that the value in STG 17 Channel 62 should be "whatever it was before" + 5. Mine was 16 before and needed 21 to work, the same has been true for several other people who have posted here.

Can you remember what the original value was in your car?

Does 5 work? - if not try 21.

Can you not use the latest VAG-COM 504-1? It's free to download and works with any genuine cable.
Got it working and got rid of the error.

I finally got rid of the adaptation error. I had STG 56 -> Adaptation -> Function 10 channel 002. It was at 0 - self calibration but I changed it to 45 (A4 > 2004) and no more adaptation error.

About STG 17 Channel 62 was intially 17 for my car. I added 5 to 17 = 22 and it shut down the upper portion of the DIS. I will change it back to 5 - which was working fine.

I upgraded the Vagcom software so now I can access STG 56 -> Adaptation -> Function 10 -> channel 136.

Thanks all for your help!

some more vag questions

My car has the same settings: S4, Bose, XM radio, no phone, no cd changer, no multifunction steering wheel. But I have ended the subscription ot XM and dont foresee a chance of enabling it in the future since I don't really like it. So I have decided to go with 0309111 for STG56 (Navigation System) ->Coding>Function07.

Should I change it to 0309131 like PaulThai, even though I dont have XM virtually but still does physically?

Here are the errors I have:
00852 - louspeaker(s); front, 011 - open circuit
01044 - control module incorrectly coded, 000 - -
02005 - coding PIN, 004 - no signal/communication

I know why there is a 00852 error, since it is hooked up with the wrong adapter (non-bose), but I have no idea how to get rid of the rest, nor do I know what they mean.

Is is safe to drive around with a 00852 error, since it is a open circuit? Will it harm my car? I really dont want to take everything apart before I get the correct adapter and I have to take the car to work... but of course if yall say it will harm my speaker and what not, then I will have to.

I would appreciate any input.

Thanks!

Sounds like you have the wrong RNS adapter cable like you said. I think probably all your errors may go away once you get the correct cable. Probably ok to drive around like this until you get the correct cable.

Good luck,
Paul
