The Japanese RNS will not work in Europe or North America, different hardware, different tuners, no maps. The unit is made by Sony (if it's the old one) or Aisin (the new one but it's not the same as the RNS-E). Based on what I have read so far your only option is to replace the unit with a Euro or US spec unit.

Does anyone know who makes this unit and what maps are availaible? This unit is installed in my A3 Japanese import which is on it's way from Japan. I have no clue as to who the OEM is and it does not look like a Blaupunkt unit. There are pictures posted on this website though, hopefully someone can help? :shock:
