Here is what I hope isn't a stupid question. I have recently purchased a 2007 A4 2.0T. Can I definitively say this is a B7 model?

The B designation isn't something I have been able to actually discern by any of the owners manuals and such, but it seems given the 2007 model year it must be... right?

Thanks,
Scott

Look at the front grill - 1 single big grille = B7, small grille above the bumper = B6.

As morph860 says a 2007 is a B7.

yeah - almost certainly a B7.... it would be a VERY late reg'd B6 if it was: they stopped making them in 2005, I think!

Or starting with 'WUA' if it's a B7 RS4.

Your links are not exactly correct, my info is directly from ELSA WIN.
What doesn't match with ELSA??

The "Vehicle Type" is only two digit in VIN - but you are right, the right Vehicle Type is in some cases three digit - but not in VIN.

My Vehicle Type is "8K5" - and in VIN only "8K"

Guys, it really is not complicated AT ALL to tell if you have a B6 or a B7.

Walk outside, stand in front of the car and using the Mark 1 eyeball look at the grille - if it's a big single grille then you have a B7, if it's got a grille above the bumper/fender and another grille below the bumper/fender then you have a B6.

Period.

What about the 2006 S4 Cabriolet? It has the dual grills but they are B7s? Right?

What's strange is I have been looking at the 2006 S4 Cabriolet and they all seem to have the smaller grill. B6 or B7?

I think you can get the MY2006 in both B6 and B7

The MY starts around May/June the Year before the actual Year.

e.g. MY2006 starts May/June 2005

For the S4 Cabriolet, it first became a B7 in January 2006, which mean that from May/June 2005 -> December 2005 it is a B6, and from January 2006 -> 2008 it is a B7
