I have been searching, but i get confused.

As the subject states i'm installing a RNS-E EU into a A4 B7 EU. I'm not going to use a CD changer, i don't have satellite (doh!), no multifunction steering wheel, no telephone, no BOSE...
I can do language setup, choose miles or km, from the RNS-E unit and i'm pretty sure the unit has been allready set for a european A4 anyway.

So, do i need the VagCom? And if so for what?

Setting the GALA profile, routing the voice guidance to the correct speaker, coding the instrument cluster to display the routing information.

You might be able to do an incomplete installation without VAG-COM but who wants a half-done job?

If you don't have BOSE you can set up GALA (Graduated Audio Level Adjustment) in 7 profiles to adjust the volume based on your current speed. Newer BOSE systems have the Audio Pilot which is supposed to do everything better.

Sounds like you need to do more research.

Good thing you don't then.

As far as i know the GALA (Geschwindigkeits Abhängige Lautstärke Anpassung) settings are made under the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) menu in the RNS-E unit in five steps. So that is why i am wondering what the "GALA profile" that you need VagCom to set up is.

But never mind. I will need to use VagCom no matter what.

Strange why they bother to put these coding choices and all these channels to set with VAG-COM ... (including 7 options for GALA).
