Hello,

Today I put my work collegues newer RNS-E DVD into my RNS-E and it updated the software on the unit to a higher version (from 0100 to 0500). When I put my RNS-E DVD 2006-1 back in the sat nav systems says that insert the navigation disk.

I now am unable to use my RNS-E to navigate

Thanks,

Original DVD or backup? If it's a backup then it's probably a bad backup, if it's original it's probably a dirty DVD drive.

There are only three reasons why it would say "Insert Navigation DVD":
- DVD unreadable - scratched, dirty, bad backup
- DVD drive droken or lense dirty
- RNS-E set to the wrong region

If you are in South Africa or Australia, check #37 channel 10 and make sure it's set to 1 for Australia and 2 for South Africa. If you are in Europe channel 10 should be set to 0. If channel 10 is set properly and the DVD is even after a reset not accepted, then it's option 1 or 2 that;s causing your problem.

There is another reason ... and I suspect it's the problem you are having.

You say you updated from SW 0100 to SW 0500.

The format of the map DVD was changed from SW 0300 onwards, so now you have SW 0500 running you need a map DVD that is at least SW 0300 onwards.

For the EU map DVD that means you need a DVD that is version 2005_1 or later. You cannot use a 2004, 2004_1 or 2005 DVD any more.

The part numbers of the DVDs you CANNOT use are 8P0 919 884, 8P0 919 884 B and 8P0 919 884 C.
