Has there been any updates as to whether ICE-LINK is compatible with the RNS-E.

I did the searches and came up with alot of different threads which basically confused me. Some threads say it work others say it doesnt.

I also read somewhere, where IL doesnt work if connected via the CD changer control in the rear rather it works in the front. Is there any diagrams as to where you plug on the head unit?

Other things i found that there is a cable out there that will work called the ice-link plus. is this available at a local shop (best buy)?

SD right now works great, however, i'd like to get my whole collection in using the iPOD.

thanks,

better yet, anyone who did the ice-link install... can you share what you used as far as ice-link cables and method of install; what route did you go to, in the rear or head unit.

I have the icelink plus (US version, bought at Best Buy) connected to my RNS-E. Note that I do not use (or subscribe to) my factory XM radio. The icelink just plugs into the RNS-E's adapter.

Even though the box says "Navigation systems require an additional harness kit sold separately", it works fine. You can control the icelink interface by clinking into the CD changer control, choosing disk 6, and go from there.

That's good news because it means that the only reason why there is no RNS-E version is the fact that the plug is different and or that the CDC port is occupied by the SAT radio.

What UI does the IceLink Plus present?

How well does it work with the nav+?
Do the song titles / playlists read out on the nav+ display / DIS?
Do the steeringwheel controls work?
Can you include some screenshots?

I am tempted as the ipod allows for a much larger music collection in the car, but part of the attraction of the RNS-E is the cool UI, if the icelink doesn't enble that, its not so cool.

No Audi head unit dislays text form a device connected to the CD changer port. This is true even for the RNS-E. Besides that your steering wheel controls will continue to work the same way as it does with a CD changer.
