I don't know if it exists but the RNS-E supports switching the source through VAG-COM. If someone would build a black box which would send a certain K (or maybe even CAN) signal when in reverse, this project would be possible. Of course, when driving faster than 5 mph the screen will go blank. But that's another issue.NSX JR said:

I've done a search on this, but have not found if there is a way to have a rear view camera that automatically activates when the car is in reverse gear. I realize that I'll need the 1417 and a camera to make this work, and by doing this you could activate it by selecting TV as your source. I'm just wondering if there's any way to trigger the camera through the reverse switch in the car. Thanks.

It could be possible to force navigation to switch to Video source, wgen in reverse same way like TEL interface is switching to TEL screen when call is received ..........BUT you need to remember that TEL function is coded into software and probably software trigger like that would take some time / programing skills and RNS-E software architecture knowledge. Counting all that I wouldn't really wait for solution like that, any time soon.
has anyone ever experimented with the reverse pin??.. it is probably the reverse pin is for the A6 reverse signal, but just maybe it is to activate the video source on the RNS-E for a reverse camera (but i doubt it)..

I always see it suggested to try to use reverse switch in gear shifter.
then I wondered why can't you tap the reverse light positive for a switch or something??
Then I found these products...I knew somebody had to make something, right?
