OK,
I have no othe resource but you knowledgable gents here. Here is my problem.

I was sent 2 disc for 2006 (copied), 1 Set up disc and 1 Navigation DVD.
When I inserted the set up disc it stayed in the RNS-e for a bit and then told me the disc is unreadble, I ejected it and tried again and it said to insert the nav. disc which I did and had no clock on the screen meaning that it didnt upload the new software, correct ?
After about a couple of days it told me there was an error in reading the nav disc (2006). I replaced that one with my original 2005 and it's working fine.
What do I do, I bought the stuff from a member here and he has tried to help to no avail and this is my last hope.
My RNS-E unit was bought used and it was a Euro unit converted to US programming is all I know, now he doesnt know whether he reprogrammed the whole unit as a US unit or just fixed the Map files. I dont know its all to technical for me and if anyone has any ideas for me I would greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Go into Engineering Mode (press upper left MMI button for 5-10 sec, then press upper right MMI button until it changes) and to see the Navi version and Audio version (under General). Then check the INDEX.TXT on your update CD to get the SOFIDX. Post the values here then we will see what's going on with your unit.

Just to confirm, you said that your original 2005 US DVD works with your unit but a 2006 copy doesn't, correct?

OK here is what I got.

SOFIDX:0360
NAVVER:V220059J
AUDVER:A2210131

Navi version = V220057B
Audio version = A222019-160804
HW Index = H46
Map database index = NN0312
Boot version = V2201000

Thats what I got. Let me know when you can what to do next.

Your unit is still in Euro mode, though it is running the US software (otherwise you would not be able to use the original US DVD). If the original disk works then the read errors on your backup may be caused by cheap or incompatible media.
Hi. I updated the unit of Bajo, and tried to help him with this issue. It's not the 2006 DVD he can't read, but the update CD does not work. We have tried to burn the files on diffferent media: but still no reading of the update CD. Do you mean bad media of the Update CD (what I doubt after the different tries)?
Bad media was referring to the read error with the 2006 DVD only. For the update CD you can use lmost anything which looks like a CD.
Ok, but when the unit isn't updated first by using a update CD (what's the case here), isn't it normal the unit gives the message 'DVD unreadable'? Even he should insert the original 2006 DVD without first manually updating the unit?
With the US DVD, both the 2005 and 2006 DVD work with any US software. If he has a Euro unit, flashed to US 0020 or US 0040, the 2006 DVD will work as well as the 2005 DVD. If the flash was done so that the unit still thinks it's a Euro unit, it will read the US DVD but not do any update/ Also, if the SOFIDX ont he unit is higher that then SOFIDX on the DVD, no update will be performed either.

Based on the data provided, the unit is running the US software which got modified to look like a Euro software update. The next step will be now to create a software update CD which is accepted as update by this unit but makes it look like a real US unit (e.g. the navi software version should be V222xxxx and the audio software version should be A222xxxx). Once this update got installed, any future US software update with a SOFIDX higher than the one used for the last update (in this case for example 0370) to allow an automatic update without furthe rmodifying the DVD.

yes, that's right..I forgot the US DVD's have backwards compatibilty on any unit. the EU units (updates to 0360 by using the 2005-2 DVD) haven't...
A big THANK'S goes out to " AudiA4B6US " !!!! :D
Everything is working great I really appreciate the help. What a GREAT forum and a bunch of guys.
