Replaced a symphony II with the rns-e DVD Navigation unit.
navigation works fine - except it doesen't mute the radio when giving guidence.
Radio works fine - with the cluster display.

Can't talk to radio or navigation with vag-com.
No navi info on cluster display.

The k-line is was enables you to talk to the RNS-E with your VAG-COM. Did you check the k-line in your RNS-E adapter?

On the RNS-E under sound settings you can change the volume of the navi voice. make sure it's not set to zero. Also, under navi settings you can turn off the navi voice, make sure it's checked there.

To display the navi info on your DIS you have to add 4 to the current value in STG 17 (instrument cluster) channel 62. if tyou have the red (bi-color) DIS you may need to turn your navi off and back on to see the instructions. The multi-color DIS should work right away.

Have fun...

On the RNS-E the radio/mp3/cd doesn't mute, it just reduces the volume a little. Also, the navi volume doesn't follow the GALA settings which means it's fixed at the level you set. I fyou listen to very load music it may sound that the navi doesn't mute the radio at all. Something for Audi to fine tune I guess.

I suppose you are actually in active route guidance, are you? What was the value in 17/62 before and what is it now?

Two things to try: while navigating, turn the navi off/on very briefly. If this doesn't work, try to code 5 (Radio/1 + Navi/4) and see what happens.

sometimes my red DIS displays navi info without the quick 'off/on' trick, other times i need to do it..

i dont find it to be that big of a deal..

turning off then on does the trick, you have to do this every time you start the car....
It's a "feature" of the red DIS, the colour DIS doesn't need the off/on trick.
